Marketing a Private Rental Property: The Essentials

The property market, although generally reasonably stable, can have its ups and downs. But with the right tips and marketing tools at your disposal, you need not worry about instability with your private rental property. The right type of marketing and exposure can ensure that your property has permanent, paying tenants, and that any tenant-free periods are as short as possible.

The first thing to keep in mind when marketing your private rental property is that no two properties are the same. You should make sure that you emphasize all the aspects of your property that make it unique to make t more appealing to prospective tenant. It is important that your property description and photos present your property in the best light.

It is important that you spend time on the marketing and maintenance of your private rental property to minimize vacancy periods. However, should a situation arise where you need to look for short-term tenants, it is important to be flexible and commit to finding the best tenants for the shorter time period. A private rental property is a big investment and so it is well worth making sure that your property is in good hands.

If you want to make your property available as a private rental, there are a lot of things that you need to consider in order to make it a success. Just one of these things is whether or not your property is furnished. If you intend to make your property available for holiday rentals or short-term stays, your property should be furnished. But if you intend to make the property available for longer-term contracts, it is advisable that you leave the property unfurnished because tenants will most likely prefer to use their own furniture.

If you want to be a good landlord and find success as the owner of a private rental property, there are a lot of things you need to consider. One of the most important skills you can have is that skill of communicating with your tenants. This is an important factor in getting tenants who are willing to stay for the long-term, will not damage your property and who are able to pay regular rent.

Who Needs An iPad When This Tablet Has Twin "Sticks", a D-Pad And Buttons? [Android]

Who Needs An iPad When This Tablet Has Twin "Sticks", a D-Pad And Buttons?I love my iPad for gaming, but only for certain types of games. Usually the ones that don't ask you to move a lot. Anything that requires a virtual d-pad, or joystick, or buttons, gah, no, kill it with fire.

Unless...unless there was a tablet like this one. Archos' GamePad is an upcoming Android tablet that sticks two sliders, a d-pad and some face buttons on the side of a tablet, turning it into an enormous custom gaming handheld. Specs are thin, but consist of "a dual-core processor @ 1.5 GHz combined with a Mali 400mp quad-core GPU".

Which would be awesome for Android games, but think about it, it would be even better for all those old PC games you've got lying around the house.

Because Android's Ice Cream Sandwich OS now supports game controllers, Archos reckons over 1000 Google Play titles support the sticks and buttons. If GTA III is one of them, that would be great.

It'll go on sale in October for "less than ?130" (USD$205).

LG's 84-inch UD 3D TV makes its formal IFA debut, we go hands-on

Handson with LG's 84inch UD 3D TV tktkt

Here's yet another 84-inch 4K TV, this time from LG. The company's 84LM9600 was announced last week and has already started shipping in Korea, but it's here at IFA and poised to hit the market worldwide. Priced at about $22,105, this display is big in every way. You get a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 -- four times the resolution of existing full HD panels -- and what LG calls "3D sound" thanks to 2.2 integrated channel speakers. 3D is courtesy of the company's passive glasses technology. So how does that all look?

We spotted the set during LG's booth tour today. At first it seemed like "just another" 84-inch 4K TV (the form-factor seems to have exploded within the last week), but this flavor is rigged for three-dimensional viewing as well. You'll need to view 2D content in order to take advantage of the full resolution, and the picture in this mode seemed to be on par with the competition, based on our quick peek at IFA. And how about 3D? The passive picture was consistent with the company's other sets, just, well, much much larger. Will you be making room for this massive set in your living room? You might want to take a closer look in our hands-on photos below before pulling out that credit card.

How to Protect Your Family on Holiday : : Travel Insurance Tips ...

August 30th, 2012 | Josh Harrison

Just like there are a lot of dangers for children at home, there are plenty of dangers when you?re on vacation as well, even more so when you consider the unknown dangers associated with unfamiliar locations. That?s not to say that you shouldn?t go on a family vacation, however, it just means you need to be vigilant and take extra precautions when it comes to your family?s safety. The following are some tips for doing just that.

Research Your Destination

Just like with anywhere, holiday destinations and resort towns also have areas that are less safe than others. Before you embark on your travels, do some research to ensure you know the areas that are okay, and the ones should be avoided. By checking the travel advisory section of the Government of Australia website, you can get up-to-date information on places and areas that are unsafe for travel. You can even sign up to be on the mailing list should the safety status of a country or city change while you?re there.

Find Out About Immunisations

Some countries require visitors to get the proper immunisations, and doing so can save you and your family members from becoming unnecessarily ill. Protect your family even before you leave home by ensuring that everyone?s health and immunisations are up-to-date.

Get Proper Travel Insurance

Getting the proper travel insurance isn?t even an option: it?s something that you absolutely must have before you step foot outside of your home country. Accidents often happen to people who are travelling abroad, some small and some large. Getting family travel insurance should be at the top of your checklist if you want to ensure that everyone stays safe and gets the medical care they require should there be an accident.

Keep the Family Together

When travelling in unfamiliar territory, getting separated from the rest of the family is one of the biggest concerns that most people have. While anything short of chaining yourselves together isn?t 100% effective in preventing this from happening, there are plenty of ways you can prevent it from becoming a major issue should it take place. Make sure each family member has a map as well as a phone or watch that has GPS. Mark down the coordinates of both the consulate building and the resort you?re staying at along with emergency phone numbers so that everyone can find their way back safely.

Don?t Leave Valuables in the Hotel Room

Especially when travelling to poorer nations, your family will always be under threat of someone trying to steal money or possessions from you or your hotel room. You can do a lot to avoid attracting unwanted attention simply by not making a big show of your wealth, such as by leaving your expensive watch at home and not carrying around large wads of cash. While your family members generally aren?t in a lot of personal danger, you should always keep some money safe so that it?s available in case of emergencies.

While most holiday destinations are very safe for tourists and holidaying families, it never hurts to be prepared. Having a back up plan for potential situations will ensure that your family has a fun, stress free holiday.

Yosemite officials say 1,700 visitors risk disease

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) ? About 1,700 people who stayed in tent cabins at Yosemite National Park this summer were warned Tuesday they may have been exposed to a deadly rodent-borne virus blamed for the deaths of two campers.

Four people who spent time in Signature Tent Cabins at Curry Village around the same time in June have contracted hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, an illness spread by rodent feces, urine and saliva.

One of the people who died was from outside California. The Centers for Disease Control confirmed the death within the past few days. Two other people were infected and expected to survive.

The disease can incubate for up to six weeks before flu-like symptoms develop. It's fatal in 30 percent of all cases, and there is no specific treatment.

"This is certainly an issue and we're getting word out," said park spokesman Scott Gediman. "We're very concerned about visitors and employees, but we feel we are taking proactive steps in both cleaning the affected areas and in public education."

Rangers were handing out brochures about hantavirus to guests as they entered the park. In addition, guests checking into cabins at the family friendly Curry Village were being warned about the outbreak and what precautions they should take.

"This is a serious public health issue and we want to be transparent, but at the same time we don't want people to alter their plans because we are taking the necessary precautions," Gediman said.

After word of the first death came earlier this month, employees of park concessionaire Delaware North Co. disinfected the 408 canvas-sided and wood-sided cabins in Curry Village. The 91 signature cabins where all four victims stayed were being shored up in an attempt to make them more rodent-proof.

Park officials said none of the victims had anything in common other than staying in Yosemite cabins between June 10 and June 20. A 37-year-old man from the San Francisco Bay area was one of the victims who died. Details about the others have not been released because of medical privacy laws.

Thousands of people visit the park every month, so it would be impossible to track everyone who had set foot in Curry Village, officials said.

"There are rodents and some are infected and that's what happens," Gediman said. "This is a wilderness setting. It has nothing to do with the cleanliness of the cabins."

Of the 587 documented U.S. cases since the virus was identified in 1993, about one-third proved fatal.

This year's deaths mark the first such fatalities of park visitors, although two others were stricken in a more remote area in 2000 and 2010, officials said.

The century-old Curry Village is a collection of cabins that, at roughly $140 a night, are the most economical lodging in the park. At the other end of the lodging spectrum is the historic Ahwahnee Hotel, where rooms can be $500 a night.

Located at the base of 3,000-foot Glacier Point, Curry Village has been in the news in recent years for being located in a rockfall hazard zone. After boulders rained down on the village in 2008, the park permanently closed some of the cabins. These newer, insulated Signature Cabins were built in 2009 to replace them.

IM Confidential Offers New Subscription-Based Online Community for

Tommy Miller, CEO,
M. Dubrava 36, 10000 Zagreb
00385958737196,
tm@theunderwearmillionaire.com

http://theunderwearmillionaire.com/

I.M. Confidential, a new online community for internet marketers and people who want to create their online business, has today announced its launch.

The new site, located at www.theunderwearmillionaire.com, is primarily about providing its members with regularly updated content which includes high quality products and courses about all aspects of Internet marketing and online business, ebooks and reports, videos, webinars, group projects, community networking and much more.

?The interesting part about the new I.M. Confidential community is that members will be learning about all the important parts, aspects and methods of online business, Internet marketing and all types of marketing online, like email marketing, Facebook marketing, social networks and so on. We have prepared tons of quality content and products which is regularly updated, almost on a daily basis, especially if we count in our ?social networking? component, which actually makes I.M. Confidential an online community?, said CEO Tommy Miller, an internet marketer with more than six years of experience in this field of business and the owner of more than 100 websites in various niches.

With its sights set on a target audience of Internet marketers and online business opportunity seekers, Miller said these are persons who would like to improve their knowledge and tactics, and learn more about online business and internet marketing, persons who would like to create and start their own profitable online business and learn how to make money online. The I.M. Confidential community is also completely suitable for people who already have their online business and websites, but would like to improve on them.

The aim is to help these persons save time and money for finding similar products, reports, courses and training sessions, and provide them with regularly updated content which will be helpful to them in their intentions to create a highly profitable online business.

?Besides the huge amount of quality products, like the ones for which other authors charge anything from $10 to $197, we are probably one of the first internet marketing programs with built in social networking and community aspect, at least on this level, which is what we believe will be the biggest benefit for our members. When we counted in all the content, projects and networking built in this community, we have realized that I.M. Confidential could be called ?the sexiest Internet marketing community? ever online? said Miller, whose mission is to provide people with valuable information about creating their online business and improving its profitability, and to help them find the right information about opportunities online, Internet marketing and subject of making money online.

?I?m pretty sure we all can witness a lot of information about this subject that?s plain wrong, often pretty stupid and in most cases very misleading. That is why our intention is to help people to receive quality and valuable information for a price that?s more than affordable and, in the same time, much lower than for any other similar training course available on the Internet. To be honest, besides a couple of similar membership sites, we believe our I.M. Confidential community is a category for itself in the internet marketing world? he added, referring to many false and dangerous ?get rich quick? schemes available online.

When he was asked about relation of I.M. Confidential community to available high priced coaching programs of established experts, Miller said ?Please understand that I?m working with many experts in field of Internet marketing, and some of them are even authors of content provided inside the I.M. Confidential community, but my intention was to make this community available to everyone, and not just to handful of people who can afford to pay thousands of dollars for expert coaching.?

Besides a lot of content included in I.M. Confidential community program, Miller also stated that they have integrated several other modules that will increase usability and results for its members, like ?points system? which will allow them to choose a Member of the month, projects module with various step-by-step projects that members can immediately undertake, and so called ?Confidential? blog where even more useful content will be presented to members. All that is available to public for a limited time and for a small monthly fee which will probably be increased soon, since Miller wants to keep this community as exclusive as possible.

Nanoscale Device Can Weigh a Single Molecule

DevotedSkeptic writes "Caltech scientists have created an ultra-sensitive device that can weigh an individual molecule for the first time. The device is invisible to the naked eye and vibrates at a specific frequency based on the molecule resting on top of its bridge like structure." More in the Caletch press release. This is an improvement on a design from 2009 that also could theoretically weigh a single atom, but in practice could not because the position along the "bridge" affected the result. Now the researchers have figured out how to measure the position of the molecule on the bridge and compensate. The device is built using semiconductor fabrication techniques "...making it easy to mass-produce. That's crucial, since instruments that are efficient enough for doctors or biologists to use will need arrays of hundreds to tens of thousands of these bridges working in parallel. 'With the incorporation of the devices that are made by techniques for large-scale integration, we're well on our way to creating such instruments,' Roukes says. This new technology, the researchers say, will enable the development of a new generation of mass-spectrometry instruments." The full article is behind a paywall unfortunately.

Get Your Omega-3?s From Krill Oil Capsules | ArticlePDQ.com

So, this was all about krill oil in detail. Don?t forget to look at this article at least. Have fun and revel in yourself.

Substantial sized people: Their amounts are similar to normal sized people. The initial serving can be ongoing for 4 2 or 3 weeks thereafter, it is usually reduced to help 2 capsules as well as 1000 milligrams of krill oil each day.

Omega-3 is a polyunsaturated fatty acid, which can reduced the risk of heart disease and help in reducing the level of Low density lipoprotein (?bad?) cholesterol even though increasing the a higher level HDL (?good?) bad cholesterol in the body.

The benefits of krill oil are very much comparable to those of fish oil, mainly because they include the same style of EFA-EPA and DHA nevertheless may come in slightly different types of proportions.

The 1st difference I actually noticed between krill oil and the different supplement was the retail price. Krill oil supplements cost with regards to 34 pennies per pills, while fish oil pills can be bought with 6 cents each capsule. Needless to say there may be components affecting this kind of price like potency, quality, and other these items, even so did not go to whichever.

Plus, krill supplements currently have lower levels involving DHA, one of the our omega 3?s that maintain your brain sharpened. High quality fish oil can be loaded with DHA. Even better, some of the better fish supplements now have astaxanthin in levels on or higher as compared to what?s throughout krill oil.

They are also consideration to have healing effects and have absolutely been used to treat numerous conditions between dysmenorrheal to Alzheimer?s disease, from coronary heart diseases to be able to psoriasis.

Krill oil gains come from small crustaceans that live with cold n . areas. These creatures these are known as krill, but also could be referred to as euphausiids. The oil from these crustaceans is assumed to have a number of benefits intended for well-being. Here is a check out some of the causes that people are purchasing this product today.

Neptune Krill Oil or NKO showed to effecti within clinical studies in order to reducie PMS syndrome using EPA & DHA superior forms of Omega-3 fat, Astaxanthin- a powerful de-oxidizing, Phospholipids and a vitamin & E in fact it is free from hazardous heavy metals, mercury, dioxins as well as PCBs. Just lately there was media about toxins risk of Fish Oils with Volatile organic compounds which developed a huge issue among health care professionals and buyers. Luckily Krill Oil can be away from most of these concerns.

As we discussed, the health benefits associated with krill oil are much significantly less compared to a top quality premium fish oil and will also be improving your health insurance and helping to improve planets health too by selecting natural skin oils from fish as a substitute.

Gay Marriage, Gay Parenting, and Me | It's Conceivable

My girlfriend and I are planning to get married. We?ve been together four years.
I did not set up an elaborate proposal (Although I briefly daydreamed about a fictional concert where I would write a perfect note to Kathleen Hanna and ask her to bring me up onstage to propose).

I didn?t get down on one knee. She didn?t either. Neither she nor I bought or wants a diamond ring (I?m about as interested in diamond rings as I am in wearing fabulous skirts ? that is, not very).

All that said, we finally admitted to each other that we want a wedding for a variety of reasons, but mostly because it?s a sincere commitment to each other and an opportunity to have a really nice party. Oh, and it doesn?t hurt to secure our Wills, finances, and medical decision-making power either.

Let me be clear ? I have no problem with more traditional weddings happening for other couples. Like everybody else, I?ve gotten a little misty when I hear a co-worker or friend talk about a proposal. I?m emotionally moved at weddings during all the parts where you?re supposed to be moved ? the vows, the dances, the speeches. I don?t hate weddings at all, and I get that the drama of the wedding ritual can float a lot of people?s boats.

As a feminist and lesbian, I just never imagined myself being in one. It seems silly for me to go through motions that don?t really apply to our lives. Giving away the bride (To who? For what? Which one?). Wearing white (Queen Victoria?s fashion choices are not mine). Having a wedding party (It seems like an in-person version of what used to happen on MySpace where you could choose your Top 8 Friends to display, thereby making all of your other friends feel shitty). These things don?t make that much sense for any modern couple, but they really don?t make sense for most gay and lesbian couples, unless the theme of your wedding is ?traditional wedding? and you?re acting out those roles and rituals for a dramatic effect.

Perhaps that?s part of the reason that there has always been a bit of backlash against gay marriage within the gay community, with some arguing that gay and lesbian couples shouldn?t just be aping the traditions of straight couples, or trying to ?normalize? their relationships by copying codified rules that have traditionally rejected us. I would be on board with all of that if there weren?t the pesky little fact that marriage is tied to hundreds of of legal rights and safeguards for us as a couple, especially if we want to start a family. Plus, one could argue that exposing family and friends to public images of gay couples ? and weddings are certainly some of the best heart-tugging relationship eye candy out there ? does advance public perception of our relationships. It makes us real, it makes us human, it makes us relatable to the Chik-fil-a goers out there.

There?s no doubt the battle for same sex marriage has been a platform that?s helped bring other LGBT isssues to the stage, and advanced awareness of and understanding about same sex couples in a multitude of ways. Notably, the Democratic party has added same sex marriage to the party platform this year. That?s a HUGE deal, no matter how you feel about actually getting married. Similarly, President Obama explicitly supporting same sex marriage this year is a HUGE deal in the fight for gay rights and symbolic support (if not actual legislation). The past few years have been crazy with progress. And yet, just as LGBT couples did their own commitment ceremonies for years before Massachusetts legalized gay marriage, we?ve been starting families and raising kids all along, too.

By that I mean, the next step after marriage is kids, and a similar debate to that of gay marriage is beginning to materialize around same sex families within the gay community and in larger popular culture. Are we following in the footsteps of how straight families are formed, or are we forging new family structures that end up influencing straight couples? Is it annoying or amazing that the more visible gay families are, the more gay couples will be expected to start a family?

The New York Times recently ran a piece about a gay couple in New York who were feeling pressure to start a family, despite being vocal about the fact that they had no interest in having kids. With shows like The New Normal and Modern Family dominating primetime this fall, and the recent announcement of Jennifer Lopez-backed lesbian ABC Family show The Fosters, it?s no wonder same sex couples are starting to feel the same pressure straight couples feel after getting married. The difference, of course, is that not many people know how challenging starting a family can be for same sex couples.

My partner and I both have well-paying jobs, but we?re barely able to save for a vacation, let alone a baby. Aside from the general cost of having a child, we?ll have to start a couple hundy in the hole compared to a straight couple, with the gap widening the longer it takes for us to get pregnant. We can expect to pay about $200-400 for each IUI appointment and $600 ? $800 or so for the cost of sperm plus shipping and storage each time we inseminate. Not to mention the legal fees for our second-parent adoption if we do get pregnant. If one of us has fertility issues, we?re even further up sh*t creek, as we most likely won?t be able to get insurance to cover our baby-making efforts. All this is to say that, unlike getting married, starting a family is a much, much different playing field from straight couples. It?s not just about semantics and traditions, it?s about navigating a minefield of potential setbacks, nail-biting worries, and hidden discrimination.

I won?t even go into the entirely different set of challenges for a gay male couple who want to have a biological child. (Basically, to have a biological child as a gay male couple, you have to be rich or go into a lot of debt. No joke.)

But what about adoption? That?s for everyone, right? In addition to the not-so-small cost of adoption, the uncertainty of getting a child or being subtly discriminated against, and the impossibility of international adoption, there?s that small roadblock of the 30 U.S. states that don?t support LGBT adoption* (Some of those states explicitly ban joint adoption by gay couples, but most stay silent, I guess hoping that if they close their eyes and stick their fingers in their ears, gay parenting will just go away). Foster care adoption is an even wilder landscape, with only 6 states explicitly supporting LGBT foster care adoption, and the majority staying stubbornly quiet on the issue (only two states explicitly prohibit LGBT foster adoption. Stay classy Utah and Nebraska!).

*Source: Movement Advancement Project.

It?s yet to be seen whether The New Normal will go into detail about how the gay couple depicted on the show can afford surrogacy, or if Modern Family will ever address any of thornier aspects of just how Cam and Mitch adopted Lily (they did touch on doing an open domestic adoption for their second child last season). All I know is that the victory of same sex marriage (which is still very much in process, and still very much tenuous ? ahem ? marriage amendments in Minnesota, Washington, and the one that?s already passed in North Carolina) will be quickly followed by the more serious (and necessary) need for LGBT family protections. Following the pattern of same sex marriage, LGBT family structures are entering popular culture, which means legislative battles won?t be far behind.

It seems as if each week a court case pops up with new and different verdicts about same sex families. Whether it?s a biological parent being able to take off with a couples? child (leaving the non-bio parent with no legal recourse), children unable to be insured by their non-bio parent, or living with the threat of your parenthood being contested by a donor, homophobic grandparents, or an unsympathetic judge, new issues are cropping up every day that?uh?kinda need to be dealt with (Government, I?m talking to you here).

So I?m finally ready to get married. And I?m 99% sure we want to start a family (I wouldn?t be editing this site if I didn?t). I can?t help but be hopeful we?ll have made as much progress on safeguards for LGBT families in a couple of years as we have for gay marriage these past two. Until then, I?ll keep posting gay parenting success stories on It?s Conceivable for you guys to read.

Saudi foils 'terror' plot, busts two cells

Saudi authorities announced on Sunday they had foiled a "terror" plot by elements suspected of links to Al-Qaeda, mostly Yemenis, and broken up two extremist cells in Riyadh and Jeddah.

The interior ministry said in a statement the suspects were "in contact with the deviant organisation abroad," a term usually used to refer to Al-Qaeda jihadist network.

The suspects were working on "recruiting elements to execute criminal attacks targeting security forces, citizens and foreign residents, as well as public installations," it said in a statement carried by the official SPA news agency.

How to Make Cash on The Internet

How to Make Cash On The InternetAre you one of those people who dream of touring the various countries and cultures of Europe, going on safari in Africa or experiencing the numerous exotic sights and sounds of the Orient? If so, you?re in good company. Many people long to travel, yet they have no idea how to make it happen.?

Unless you?re independently wealthy, you still face the reality of needing to earn a living while you travel. By using the Internet to your advantage, it?s possible to create the very income that you need to subsidize your journey and live an independent life anywhere you choose.

If you have an area of expertise, you can use it to cash in with your own website. Whether you possess an extensive knowledge of crocheting, cycling, nursing or another activity, you can create a money-making website that showcases your talent. Update your content regularly, and create a downloadable e-book available for purchase by your readers.

Some people choose to write Internet content for a living. Whether you sell your articles and blog posts directly to the appropriate websites, or sell content on sites that offer articles to a variety of customers, you can certainly generate enough cash to live modestly in a country with a low cost of living.

Online auctions are another way to accumulate the money you need to travel. The items you find in exotic locations may appeal to locals or to those back home. Research the market and price your items accordingly. Pick up an authoritative book that outlines the process of selling via online auctions if you?ve never placed items up for bids before.

Virtual assistants are becoming more and more popular in the Internet age. Small business owners often hire a virtual assistant rather than employing a full-time secretary to handle their correspondence. If you have office experience, you can easily market yourself as a virtual assistant and garner a regular weekly pay-check.

If you?d like the security of working for a company rather than working for yourself, consider a customer service position. Many companies hire customer service reps to work from home to provide assistance to their customers. You?ll have set hours and a pay-check that you can count on.

Consider starting a travel blog to detail your experiences around the world. Once you develop a regular following, you can entice companies to pay you to allow them to advertise on your blog. The higher the number of hits you receive, the more you?ll be able to charge your customers for advertising space.

As you can see, there are numerous ways to generate an income using nothing more than your computer and an Internet connection. No matter what type of business you choose, you can receive your pay wherever you hang your hat. With online banking, you can easily link your bank accounts and credit cards together for easy money transfers. Using services like PayPal and Western Union can allow you to send and receive money anywhere in the world.

No matter how you choose to make and manage your money, there are ways you can stretch your U.S. dollars even further. Many countries have a cost of living that is significantly lower than that in the United States. Research locales that appeal to you, and search out those that will allow you to live on the least amount of money possible.

Some countries to consider when it comes to living cheap include India, Vietnam, the Philippines, Poland, Thailand, Mexico, Peru and the Czech Republic. As currency values and economies are always changing, it?s important that you research well before any move to make sure you have the most up-to-date financial information.

Once you know the ins and outs of making a living online, travel no longer has to be a pipe dream. By doing your homework and investing sufficient time and effort, you?ll be able to create an independent source of wealth that allows you to live anywhere in the world that you desire.

TMO Renewables signs MoU with Chinese province for biomass supplies

CTBR Staff Writer Published 23 August 2012

Bio-fuels technology developer TMO Renewables has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Chinese province of Heilongjiang to secure long term supply of biomass feedstock.

The province will supply the feedstock from its Heilongjiang State Farm (HSF) providing a long term cover for TMO's bio-fuel facilities.

Commenting on the MoU TMO chief executive officer David Weaver opined that the MoU will lead to the development of a series of second generation bio-fuel facilities in the country.

"Our network in China is growing and we look forward to announcing an offtake agreement for the ethanol produced, another key element that needs to be in place for the delivery of an operational plant in the province," said Weaver.

HSF 93 farm Director-general Mr. Zhang Guichun added, "Second generation ethanol production has been part of our strategy at the Heilongjiang State farm for some time and so we are excited to see the first step in the realisation of this strategy and eager to see the future plant start production as soon as possible."

In addition, TMO has teamed up with COFCO and CNOOC New Energy Investment to undertake joint testing programs for manufacture of ethanol from cassava residue and cassava stalks.

(AP) ? Bolstered by thousands of small individual donations, embattled Republican Congressman Todd Akin reaffirmed his commitment to his U.S. Senate campaign Friday while re-emerging publicly in Missouri for the time since making inflammatory remarks about rape and pregnancy.

Akin held a brief, tightly controlled news conference in the St. Louis suburb of Chesterfield after returning from Florida where he had been meeting with leading conservatives as he seeks to revive his campaign against Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill. His staff limited reporters to five questions and, as he has done repeatedly in recent days, Akin again rejected calls from top Republicans to drop out of the race.

"Apparently there are some people who are having trouble understanding our message, and I'd like to be clear on that today," Akin said. "We're going to be here through the November election, and we're going to be here to win."

After winning the GOP primary in August, Akin had gained quick backing from national Republican and conservative groups focused on ousting McCaskill. But that support withered after Akin was asked in an interview that aired Sunday on a St. Louis television station whether his general opposition to abortion extended to women who have been raped.

"From what I understand from doctors, that's really rare," Akin said of a woman becoming pregnant from rape. "If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down."

Akin did not specifically address those remarks in Friday's news conference, nor was he asked about them. Instead, he sought to shift the attention back to his campaign against McCaskill, saying he stood for more freedom, more jobs and less bureaucracy than the incumbent Democrat. Staff members said Akin would resume normal campaigning next week, though they did not give specifics.

During the past week, Akin has apologized repeatedly on national radio and TV shows while acknowledging his original remarks were wrong. He's also run a 30-second apology ad on TV stations across the state.

But he remained largely out of sight in Missouri until Friday. He went to Ohio to film his apology ad at the office of his media strategist. Then he went to Florida, where he met with fellow conservatives who had gathered before the Republican National Convention.

Missouri State University communication professor Elizabeth Dudash said Akin could re-start his campaign by appearing before relatively friendly audiences.

"If he just hides in the bunker," she said, "there's no way you're going to win."

The chairman of the Republican National Committee had urged Akin to quit the Senate race, as did presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, his vice presidential pick Paul Ryan and every living Republican who has represented Missouri in the Senate. Akin also has lost the financial support for the political arm of Senate Republicans and of some powerful interest groups, such as the Crossroads organization that is affiliated with Republican strategist Karl Rove.

"I may not be the favorite candidate of some people within the Republican establishment," Akin said during the news conference. "But the voters made a decision and this is an election, it's not a selection."

Akin also sent out a new fundraising plea Friday with a goal of increasing online contributions to $212,000 by the end of the day. It referenced his continued backing from former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, the most prominent public figure to stand by Akin's side.

"Your recent support gave me the courage I needed to fight on, thank you for standing with me, and supporting my campaign to defeat Claire McCaskill," Akin said in the fundraising message.

Report: Iran opposition leader has cardiac tests

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) ? An Iranian news agency is reporting the country's main opposition leader has returned home after medical examinations for a heart ailment.

The report late Thursday by the state-owned YJC.ir says Mir Hossein Mousavi is in good condition but must continue medical treatment at home.

Mousavi, 70, ran against President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in the 2009 election. Reformers charged that Ahmadinejad's victory was fraudulent, and demonstrations rocked Iran for weeks. Then Iranian authorities moved against the opposition.

Mousavi and fellow opposition leader Mahdi Karroubi have been effectively silenced. Mousavi has been under house arrest since widespread crackdowns in early 2011.

This was the first official confirmation of Mousavi's condition after foreign-based opposition figures and websites said Thursday that he was undergoing cardiac tests in a hospital.

Pakistan imam accuses Christian girl of 'conspiracy'

A Pakistani cleric who handed over a young Christian girl to police on blasphemy charges after she burned papers containing Koranic verses said Friday what she did was a "conspiracy" to insult Muslims.

Hafiz Mohammed Khalid Chishti, the imam of the mosque in the poor Islamabad suburb of Mehrabad, insisted he had saved the girl, Rimsha, from mob violence by handing her to police but said the incident arose because Muslims had not stopped local Christians' "anti-Islam activities" earlier.

Rimsha was arrested and remanded in custody for a fortnight last Thursday after being accused of burning pages from a children's religious instruction book, which were inscribed with verses from the Muslim holy text.

The youngster reportedly suffers from Down's Syndrome and her treatment has prompted outrage from rights groups and concern from Western governments, but Chishti insisted she was fully aware of what she was doing.

"The girl who burnt the Koran has no mental illness and is a normal girl," Chishti told AFP.

"She did it knowingly, this is a conspiracy and not a mistake. She confessed what she did."

Under the Islamic republic's strict blasphemy laws, insulting the prophet Mohammed is punishable by death and burning a sacred text by life imprisonment, though rights groups say the legislation is often abused to settle personal vendettas.

Chishti claimed the local Christian community had previously caused antagonism by playing music in services at their makeshift church during Muslim prayer time and said burning the pages was deliberate.

"They committed this crime to insult us further. This happened because we did not stop their anti-Islam activities before," he said.

"Last Christmas, they played musical instruments and there was vulgarity in the streets during our prayers time. I warned them but they did not stop."

During his sermon at Friday prayers Chishti told worshippers it was "time for Muslims to wake up" and protect the Koran.

Around 97 percent of Pakistan's 180 million population are Muslim and the country's tiny Christian minority has long suffered discrimination and poverty.

Mehrabad is home to around 500 Christian families but many fled after the page-burning, fearing a repeat of a 2009 incident in Gojra, in Punjab province, in which young Muslim radicals burned Christian houses, killing seven, after a rumour that a page from the Koran had been desecrated during a wedding.

Chishti said that on the day of the incident he went to Rimsha's home after people showed him the papers she had burned, and he found an angry crowd outside and three or four Muslim women attacking her.

"Some women were beating her and other people were trying to break her arms when I rescued her," he said.

Chishti said the girl confessed to burning the pages and insisted he had averted major violence by handing her over to police.

"People were demanding to burn their house, but I went to police and called them to avoid a major incident," he said.

"I had the Gojra incident in my mind, when Muslims burnt the whole Christians' colony. I did not want to repeat that."

Police have registered a case against more than 150 people for damaging property during the protest after the incident but Chishti insisted nobody from the area was involved.

"I did not invite people to protest against the Christians. The people who protested against the incident were from some other area," he said.

"The cleric who announced on loud speaker was also from another mosque and he did it outside this village. We have no link to that."

Rimsha had been due to appear in court to answer charges on Saturday, but investigating police officer Zabihullah and Rimsha's lawyer Tahir Naveed Chaudhry said the hearing was now expected on August 31.

(AP) ? Mitt Romney's success in raising hundreds of millions of dollars in the costliest presidential race ever can be traced in part to a secretive data-mining project that sifts through Americans' personal information ? including their purchasing history and church attendance ? to identify new and likely, wealthy donors, The Associated Press has learned.

For the data-mining project, the Republican candidate has quietly employed since at least June a little-known but successful analytics firm that previously performed marketing work for a colleague tied to Bain & Co., the management-consulting firm that Romney once led.

The head of Buxton Co. of Fort Worth, Texas, chief executive Tom Buxton, confirmed to the AP his company's efforts to help Romney identify rich and previously untapped Republican donors across the country. The Romney campaign declined to discuss on the record its work with Buxton or the project's overall success.

The project shows that the same strategies corporations use to influence the way we shop and think are now being used to influence presidential elections. The same personal information that we give away, often unwittingly when we swipe our credit cards or log into Facebook, is now being collected by the people who might one day occupy the White House.

There are no records of payments to Buxton from Romney's campaign, the Republican National Committee or a joint fundraising committee. Under federal law, companies cannot use corporate money or resources, such as proprietary data analysis, for in-kind contributions to campaigns.

The effort by Romney appears to be the first example of a political campaign using such extensive data analysis. President Barack Obama's re-election campaign has long been known as data-savvy, but Romney's project appears to take a page from the Fortune 500 business world and dig deeper into available consumer data.

Buxton said he's working for the Romney campaign because he wants "to be on the winning team."

He once worked with a former Romney business partner to provide insights, for example, about where Petco should open a new pet-supply store to maximize profits. In addition to Buxton, the data-mining project was described to the AP by a Romney fundraiser who spoke on condition of anonymity because the fundraiser did not want to face repercussions for describing internal campaign processes.

Businesses use those kinds of analytics firms to answer key questions for clients, such as where to build a retail store or where to mail pamphlets touting a new product. The analysis doesn't directly bring in campaign contributions, but it generates the equivalent of sales leads for Romney's campaign.

The project relies upon a sophisticated analysis by powerful computers of thousands of commercially available, expensive databases that are lawfully bought and sold behind the scenes by corporations, including details about credit accounts, families and children, voter registrations, charitable contributions, property tax records and survey responses. It combines marketing data with what is known in this specialized industry as psychographic information about Americans.

An early test analyzed details of more than 2 million households near San Francisco and elsewhere on the West Coast and identified thousands of people who would be comfortably able and inclined to give Romney at least $2,500 or more.

An AP analysis this week determined that Romney's campaign has made impressive inroads into even traditionally Democratic neighborhoods, collecting more than $350,000 this summer around San Francisco in contributions that averaged $400 each. High-dollar donors have been essential to Romney's election effort, unlike Obama, who relies on more contributors giving smaller amounts.

Romney and the GOP have out-fundraised Obama's re-election effort for the past three months.

The fate of the presidency may depend on who raises more money in the campaign, whose cost for the first time is approaching $2 billion. That figure includes hundreds of millions of dollars spent by "super" political committees that accept unlimited and in some cases effectively anonymous contributions from millionaires, companies, labor groups and others to pay for television campaign advertisements across the nation.

Buxton confirmed that the data-mining project began with the help of Dick Boyce, Romney's former Bain & Co. colleague, after Romney joined fundraising forces with the Republican National Committee. Buxton expressed such confidence in his business and analysis methods that, in nearly two decades of running his firm, he told AP he has always been able to answer essential questions for customers.

"I can look at data of any kind and say, 'I want to know who that $100 donor could be,'" Buxton said. "We look at data of any kind."

Obama's campaign employs its own form of data analysis to lure potential supporters, via Facebook and Twitter, to fine-tune messages for supporters and potential donors. The Obama campaign declined to comment on its internal fundraising practices, although Buxton said it doesn't work with Obama's campaign.

Romney's campaign has also been secretive about how it raises its money, and most fundraising events have been closed to the press. Unlike Obama, Romney's campaign has declined to publicly identify the names of major fundraisers, known as bundlers, who have helped amass much of its money. Details of this project have not been made public until now, as payments to Buxton aren't reflected in federal campaign expense reports.

Buxton is not listed as a vendor in any of the campaign's reports submitted to the Federal Election Commission, although some campaigns do not report expenses until the vendor sends them a bill.

When AP initially asked Buxton about its work for Romney, it declined to acknowledge that it helped raise money for the RNC, even as its own website displayed a prominent log-in page for "2012 presidential donor prospecting." That web address contained the letters "RNC" ? a common abbreviation for the Republican National Committee. After the AP's continued questioning, the company replaced the "RNC" letters in the web address with a generic "campaign" the next day.

This is not Buxton's first foray into politics: In 2006, the company produced 1,000 names for a Connecticut campaign to meet a write-in ballot requirement, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram then reported, and 900 of them signed up.

Few in Washington campaign circles recognized the work of Buxton, although it lists thousands of other clients in the public and private sector, including hospitals and local governments.
